The Twins were led by the strong pitching of Jack Morris, who only allowed 2 runs to score in the 9th. The offense was led by Chili Davis (2-4, 3B, 3 RBI) and Shane Mack (2-4, HR, 2 RBI). Gladden, Knoblauch and Puckett added 2 hits apiece in the victory.

Led by starter Tom Glavine and 4 shutout innings from the bullpen, the Braves evened the series at one, with an extra innings victory at the Metrodome. Glavine (7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER) pitched well in getting a no-decision. Jeff Blauser, who entered the game in the 9th, won it with his RBI single in the 11th. Kevin Tapani (7 IP, 5 H, 3 R) pitched well for the Twins.

Strong pitching by Scott Erickson (8.0, 5 H, 0 R, 3 K) and timely hitting by Brian Harper gave the Twins a 2-1 series lead. Back-to-back homers in the eighth by Harper and Mack off reliever Jim Clancy gave the Twins the insurance they needed to finish off the Braves. Steve Avery (6.0, 3 H, 1 R, 6 BB, 6 K) was the tough luck loser

The Braves bullpen faultered again, this time blowing a 3-2 9th inning lead. Starter Jack Morris (4.0, 5 H, 3 R) was ejected in the 5th inning after striking out looking. The Twins bullpen proceded to pitch 7 scoreless innings as the offense rallied, led by Chili Davis, who entered the game in the 7th as a pinch-hitter. Davis tied it in the 9th with a home run off of Alejandro Pena and won it in the 11th with a two run triple. Oxis Nixon had 3 hits in the loss

The Braves pushed their way back into the series with a 4 run 6th off starter Kevin Tapani (5.1, 7 H, 6 R, 3 ER). Sid Bream (1-4, HR, RBI) and Greg Olson led off the 6th with back-to-back homers that gave the Braves the lead for good. 3 Twins errors proved costly as they led to 3 unearned runs for the Braves. Dave Justice chipped in 2 hits and 2 RBI's in the win.

A Classic pitchers deul saw Steve Avery out battle Scott Erickson (8.0, 6 H, 3 R, BB, 4 K) to even the series at three games each. Dave Justice (3-4, 2 2B, RBI) led the offense, including what proved to be the game winner in the 4th. Braves pitching allowed only 1 hit after the 4th inning.

A 3-run HR by Kirby Puckett (2-4, HR, 3 RBI) and an RBI single by Kent Hrbek (2-4, 2B, RBI) in the 4th proved to be all the offense the Twins would need to clinch the series. Starter Jack Morris cruised for 8.2 before stumbling slightly and allowing 4 straight runners to reach, including a 3-run HR by Lonnie Smith (1-4, HR, 3 RBI) to spoil the shutout. The Braves kept the game close by turning 2 double plays and a triple play in the game. In total for the series, the Braves left 65 runners on base.
